Our Story...
In the heart of our journey shines a beloved son and brother to our family-founders. At 27 years old, he embraces life with Autism, infusing our path with profound meaning. Through his remarkable journey, we've uncovered the gaps hidden within systems and communities, as well as the shortcomings within the day programs he has engaged with. These profound insights have become the driving force behind our strategies, nurturing growth, empowerment, and the pursuit of independence.
Traversing a world of mismatched programs, his gentle spirit and unobtrusive nature often led to situations that didn't quite fit. He encountered moments where he exceeded the expectations of certain programs, only to fall short in others due to a lack of person-centered learning and misunderstanding of his "Super-Powers".
At ThriveAbility Community Connections, our commitment is resolute: we seamlessly weave person-centered learning and unwavering support from program settings to individual homes. Whether the obstacle is focus – as our son once grappled with – or any other challenge, we craft personalized strategies that champion the growth of our members. Boredom and lackadaisical attitudes find their match as we introduce invigorating activities, strengthening skills and nurturing the productive growth of our participants. Every hurdle is faced collectively, fostering an environment where participants triumph and evolve into their best selves. Not Just a day program...
At ThriveAbility, we promote a healthy balance between fun-filled activities full of friendship and adventures with work experience opportunities that have us immersed within the community - building new skills and accumulating hands-on work experience. Our work experience opportunities start at our in-house café, and extend to various businesses throughout the community. New this season are Computer Classes and the ThriveAbility Community Garden.
